Layers Įxcept for the tutorials, campaigns consist of three layers of gameplay: the strategy layer, the diplomacy layer, and the battle layer. The gameplay is consistent with that of the battle mode in the campaigns. The only victory condition of these battles is to defeat all enemy companies. In a battle map, the player is placed in a battlefield and is provided with predefined companies of soldiers available to them. The game has four campaigns, each with several scenarios.
While all the battle maps are available when a noble is created, the campaigns require that the player complete each level in sequence. Once a noble is selected, the player can choose to play a campaign or battle map, or load a saved game. A noble consists of three customizable features: housename, portrait, and heraldry. Nobles act as user accounts within the game, wherein completed campaigns and saved games are local to each noble. Hope this helps, took me a while to get it going myself.At the start of a game, the player must choose a noble by either selecting one of the default nobles or creating a new one. That should be it, you can launch via DXWnd or just launch the shortcut from desktop and DXWnd will intercept and run windowed for you. Goto Compat (compatability) All tweaks blank, Select "fake version" windows 95, Goto DirectX tab, select automatic, Emulation SELECT "Primary Surface", filtering ddraw default, leave surface handling blank, leave areo checked. ensure curser handling is Correct mouse position, the rest blank. Screen resolution "SVGA modes" CHECK "limit resolution" and select 640x480. Win Size & position SELECT "Locked Size". Goto Video tab,window handling CHECK "prevent win maximise". Check "run in window" & everything else in generic should be blank, check "keep aspect ratio" leave "hide desktop" blank. Name LotR II or whatever, Both Path and Launch should point to Lords2.exe. However you can get this running in windowed mode using DXWnd.īe warned DXWnd isn't very user friendly but this worked for me on Win10 圆4 ġ) Download and install DXWnd (google it) its usually a good idea to run as admin (right click run as admin or goto properties and change there)Ģ) Navigate to your Lords of the Realm II directory and right click Lords2.exe, properties, compatability tab, uncheck everything, no win95, no 256 colour etc.ģ) Run DXWnd. Unfortunately the dosbox version doesnt seem to be part of gog download at the moment.
